Make It Right
I’m not an environmentalist. I don’t believe the hype about human-caused global warming. But that doesn’t mean I don’t support innovation and progress when it comes to energy and technology. And I certainly support efforts to rebuild New Orleans.
So that’s why I’m writing about Brad Pitt’s Make It Right project. This is an effort to rebuild homes for New Orleans residents. Yes, the houses are “green,” but that doesn’t bother me. The houses cost $150,000 to build, and they have solar panels.
And that’s why I can support it. This is how liberals and conservatives can come together. Liberals love the green efforts and conservatives like myself love solar panels for the technology. Moreover, the cost is extremely reasonable. Last but not least, safety of the house is a big issue as it will need to endure future storms in the area.
Plus, this is a non-profit effort that uses the generosity of the American people as opposed to a government agency which would have an abundant of red tape and regulations.
If you don’t have $150,000, that’s alright. Every little bit helps. This Christmas, give the gift of a Home Sweet Home to the people of New Orleans.
No commentsThe Inconvenient Truth about Global Warming and Taxes
When the current global warming cycle is over, temperatures will begin to taper off. It will have nothing to do with human effort to thwart global warming. Greenhouse gases increase as a result of the earth’s temperature, they don’t cause the temperatures.
But if politicians who believe that mankind causes global warming are elected, we will see taxes associated with the effort. Whether it’s an increase in the gas taxes or an increase in income taxes in order to pay for government-sponsored environmental programs, there will be less money in your pocket. You won’t be able to pay for all those carbon footprint offsets they want you to have.
Moreover, government regulations are likely to impact your investments.
Then, when the natural global warming cycle ends, these politicians will claim that it was human effort that cooled the earth down. Efforts will have to be maintained, which will require the taxes to be maintained.
No commentsThe New Global Warming Defense: Only Climatologists and Al Gore are Authorities
Recently, I’ve seen an increasing defense from liberals to anyone challenging that global warming is caused by humans. They attack anyone who is not a climatologist.
But they can’t even get that right.
ThinkProgress recently criticized John Christy, who has a B.A. in mathematics and an M.S. and Ph.D. in atmospheric sciences, for being skeptical about human-driven global warming. However, they praised Al Gore, who is a politician - not a climatologist.
And on this very blog, I had a commenter discount a video pointing out flaws in human-driven global warming just because the skepticism came from chemists, not climatologists.
Seriously? If you had a medical emergency would you refuse help from a doctor just because he happened to be a heart surgeon and you needed an emergency medicine doctor? I don’t think so.
Furthermore, you don’t need a degree in anything to just look at the numbers. And the numbers clearly show that greenhouse gases climb only after temperatures do. Yes, global warming occurs, but it occurs naturally, according to sun cycles. And the heating of the earth raises greenhouse gases not the other way around.
No commentsIf NBC wants to go ‘Green’, why don’t they stop broadcasting for a week?
Seriously, if NBC believes in all of this global warming, why don’t they offset their carbon footprint by going dark for a week. It’s perfect timing. The writers are on strike anyway.
Imagine all the energy saved when people don’t drive to work, when Rockefeller studios aren’t being used, when affiliate stations throughout the country aren’t using cameras, lights, computers, etc.
And why did Matt Lauer fly to the Arctic Circle to show the melting? Couldn’t they have just shown clips from An Inconvenient Truth? Why would they use up all that fuel?
